About

This project began with a simple but powerful belief: every story deserves to be heard.

Too often, the lives of Chinese immigrants in Japan remain invisible. This website is created to preserve these voices, experiences, and legacies for future generations. Through interviews, written reflections, and collected archives, we hope to build a living record that highlights resilience, cultural exchange, and the everyday lives of Chinese immigrants in Japan.

The stories shared here come directly from authentic, first-hand interviews. Interviewees are kept anonymous for privacy reasons. Topics range from immigration history, personal motivations, and experiences of discrimination, to the building of community, preservation of Chinese culture, and the role of education. Many also include reflections on Japanese social norms, politics, and Japan’s attitude toward World War II.

By presenting these narratives, we hope not only to honor those who lived them but also to invite readers to reflect on how migration continues to shape identity, belonging, and understanding between cultures.
